Hot Stuff (1979)
Director: Dom DeLuise
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
The raucuous comedy of Hot Stuff is even broader than its sizeable director/star. The plot, co-scripted by Donald Westlake, concerns four Miami cops who pose as fences in order to entrap a ridiculously bizarre gaggle of thieves (not as bizarre, though, as the perfect social mix back at the cop shop, which includes a black chief, a volatile Cuban, and Pleshette as the perfectly groomed policewoman who always has a fresh magnolia in her hair). But despite the right wing premise (the story is based on areal police entrapment operation) and tedious funny-chases, nice characterisations and witty dialogue make it almost winning.Author: CR
