Das Mädchen Rosemarie (1958)
Director: Rolf Thiele
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
The murder of Rosemarie Nitribitt, callgirl, on which Rolf Thiele based this film was one of those events which stir popular imagination for a long time because they seem to sum up an era. The mixture of provincial pettiness, ruthless money-making, and post-war shabbiness which propelled Rosemarie, her poodles and her white Mercedes to something more poignant than notoriety proved lethal in the end. Thiele's sharply directed film provides a more direct account of the grotty side of the economic miracle than Fassbinder, who was to portray it as belonging to such a remote and giddy past.Author: RB
