The Magic Hour (1998)
Director: Guilherme de Almeida Prado
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Similar in mood, tone and design to the same director's Lady from the Shanghai Cinema, this charts the love of Tito, a movie dubbing actor, for the mysterious Lucia amid the radio soap studios (he's the villain of 'The Murderer Is Amongst Us'), apartment corridors and bars of '30s Rio. It's an easily enjoyable, occasionally thought provoking, sometimes bemusing criss-cross of fantasy, parody, melodrama and reconstruction, filled with affectionate or ironic period references.Author: WH
