Making It (1971)
Director: John Erman
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
The best thing about this piffling cautionary tale for teens is Tabori's cool and witty performance (his debut) as a 17-year-old high school kid (pushing drugs looms high on the curriculum) whose penchant for making it with anything in skirts stores up a load of grief for him. The unbelievably silly climax has Tabori procuring an abortion for his girlfriend (Miles) on a false alarm, finding the appointment coming in handy because his widowed mum (Van Patten) has got herself knocked up, and being forced to sit in on the operation because the doctor feels the experience may make a man of him. Cue for classic kitsch as mother and son gaze at each other with fond new understanding, murmuring 'It's been 17 years and I feel I'm just beginning to know you.'Author: TM
