Malpractice (1989)
Director: Bill Bennett
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
This uncompromising, 'fly on the wall' Australian piece confronts medical malpractice and the aftermath suffered by an 'ordinary' family. Coral Davis goes into hospital to give birth to her third child, and misjudgments by the junior doctor who undertakes the delivery result in a brain-damaged baby. Bennett has produced an immensely impressive film which explores the emotional and legal consequences. Documentary camera techniques combine skilfully with credible performances, and dialogue which appears improvised underscores moments of great vulnerability. Strong and compelling.Author: CM
