Mama's Dirty Girls (1974)
Director: John Hayes
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
For a while this looks promising, with Gloria Grahame laying down a fair and acrid parody of the bourgeois marriage ethos for the benefit of her daughters. 'When I was your age, I just wanted a man, but a man can go just as easy as a man can come. A man is only a man, but property is security'. Having murdered her husband with the aid of the two eldest girls, only to discover that he was unfortunately penniless, she tries again, but this time picks a man with the same idea. Meanwhile the daughters find men of their own... At which point the whole thing peters out into the drab flats of routine misogyny: the women become malevolent schemers, and it's up to the men to right things (violently).Author: VG
