Man's Favorite Sport? (1963)
Director: Howard Hawks
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Dismissed by Robin Wood in his monograph on Hawks as 'tired' but championed by the French, Man's Favorite Sport? is in many ways the quintessential Hollywood auteur movie. Seen in isolation from the rest of Hawks' work, it seems to be merely an out-of-time slapstick comedy. Seen in context, it effortlessly demonstrates the auteur's ability to stamp his artistic identity on anything - in this case, the travails of an armchair expert (Hudson) forced to enter a fishing contest and confronted with a typically Hawksian superior woman (Prentiss). A marvellous film.Author: PH

- Posted on Feb 26 2008 02:37 I speak for many American's that long for a movie like this. The chemistry between Hudson and Prentiss is evident from start to finish. Good support roles from easy, the Indian, and Hudson's boss. Prentiss is Hot in a classy girl next door way . The plot is light, yet the acting and comedy are very goog. Highly recommended!
