The old story of the professional thief pulling the ultimate job before getting out for good. The cast act like robots, and look as if they've been told to speak with their mouths shut to make dubbing easier. Underneath all the mechanics and violence lurks a shred of human feeling: Douglas' wife, understandably aggrieved by his behaviour, double-crosses him at the end, but it's the only human gesture in the whole film.Author:
