Marilyn Monroe The Final Days (2001)
Director: Patty Ivins, George Cukor
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
For the delectation of buffs and scholars alike here is the final word on the 1962 Cukor/Monroe fiasco Something's Got to Give. A day by day account of the filming, plus testimony by surviving participants, is followed by a 40-minute assembly of what would have been the first third of the picture - all that was shot. Impossible to infer how successful the completed film might have been, though the material does seem somewhat piffling when contrasted with the high drama of the production itself. Considering the provenance of Ivins' film (Fox TV), it's unsurprising that MM's firing by the studio and her death a few weeks later are deemed to be unrelated. Well, it's plausible enough actually, even if the tabloid title and a pompous commentary trigger a major humbug alert.Author: BBa
