The Mask of Fu Manchu (1932)
Director: Charles Brabin, Charles Vidor
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Highly engaging if none too classy tale of Sax Rohmer's sophisticated and fiendishly brilliant Oriental villain, battling against Scotland Yard in an attempt to obtain Genghis Khan's mask and sword, which he needs to conquer the world. Much depends on Karloff's tongue-in-cheek portrait of the sinister, sadistic anti-hero, although Tony Gaudio's camerawork, the surprisingly imaginative sets, the ingenious tortures, and Myrna Loy's gleeful performance as Fu Manchu's sado- nymphomaniac daughter help no end.Author: GA
