Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948)
Director: HC Potter
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
'Mr Dreamings Builds His Bland House' would be a more accurate title for this distinctly quaint RKO comedy of Cary Grant's advertising man from Manhattan trying to set up a rural haven for his family in Connecticut, despite dry rot and all kinds of neighbourhood shysters. Naturally the dream comes true, and Blandings is probably the world's happiest commuter. The sweet, flimsy charm of all this would no doubt be indigestible without the personable performances of the stars, or the smug confidence of the script and direction.Author: GB
