From Time Out Film Guide

Holy Toledo! This frenetic family comedy, broadly in the Jeunet-Caro mould but with an eccentric Spanish political spin all of its own, is taken from Francisco Ibáñez's comic novels and was a massive domestic hit. It follows the madcap adventures of the titular secret agents, a Laurel and Hardy pairing intent on recovering Bluto-bearded Professor Bacterio's DDT (Daunty Demoraliser of Troops), which has been stolen by the dictator of Tirania, before a rival agent gets to it. An eclectic musical score - 'Kings of the Road', classic '30s chansons - complements the elaborate sight gags, gallery of grotesques, industrial set design, saturated colour and highly kinetic mise-en-scène.
