My Little Chickadee (1940)
Director: Edward F Cline
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Pairing West and Fields in one film was probably one of those ideas that seemed good at the time. But the two iconoclasts just don't mix. Fields has easily the best of it, working from his own script (though he diplomatically shared screen credit with his prickly co-star). He's in his element tossing off lunatic stories and choice aphorisms at the bar and card table of Greasewood City, a parody Western town, but time hangs heavy in his exchanges with the buxom Mae, who marries him for his non-existent money. And it hangs even heavier when Mae's by herself.Author: GB
