Que no quede huella (2000)
Director: María Novaro
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Marilu aka Ana (Sánchez-Gijón) crosses the US/ Mexican border the wrong way. Arriving in the Sonora desert from Arizona, she's picked up by sleazy border officer Mendizabel (Ochoa). Her crime? Dealing in fake Mayan artefacts - and repeatedly refusing Mendi's advances. She escapes and hitches a ride with mother-of-two Aurelia (Scanda), who's just run off with the proceeds of her dealer boyfriend's stash. Journeying through towns called No Turning Back and Shifting Sands, they bond - while the federales and drug dealers close in. The women give solid performances and the car radio provides a quirky, surreal soundtrack featuring folk songs of iguanas with tits, and news reports of serial killers, sweatshop workers, floods and the like. 'Thelma y Luisa' - sin los cojones.Author: JFu
