Smash-Up, The Story of a Woman (1946)
Director: Stuart Heisler
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Hayward hits the skids with a flourish in the kind of showy role Bette Davis or Joan Crawford might have made even more of. As husband Bowman's crooning career hits the big time, her liquor bill makes it big too, before a burning orphanage takes a bow in the finale and schematic redemption is the order of the day. It makes you smile to think that the alcoholic misanthrope Dorothy Parker had a hand in the script.Author: TJ
