The Soldier (1983)
Director: James Glickenhaus
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
The credits signal 'world politics' to Tangerine Dream, the opening carnage disposes of a KGB hit squad by judicious use of the posed square jaw and helicopters. The Soldier is a secret, extra-legal square jaw, with what the Russians (the bald ones chewing toothpicks) term an 'unusually broad charter'. Glickenhaus' The Exterminator at least gave us a witty and reluctant killer with an understandable grudge and modest ambitions. Here nothing less than global salvation will do: kidnapped nuclear stuff, oilfields threatened, Middle East crisis, Mossad sex interest, Moscow implicated - the kind of nonsense best left to real puppets in Thunderbirds.Author: RP
