Something Big (1971)
Director: Andrew V McLaglen
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
One gruesome symptom of the Death of the Western was the 'comedy Western', a messy, confused genre that flourished briefly in the late '60s and early '70s. Occasionally, the genre produced the odd bizarre gem - notably Cat Ballou and There Was a Crooked Man - but this was one of the less honourable efforts. Martin plays a baddie in town to give his retiring adversary, cavalry colonel Keith, a last, leadenly parodic run for his money. Typically for the genre, a few Brits are around to add incongruity - here, Blackman and then-trendy starlet White.Author: TCh
