Classy Korean frightener in which taxi driver Kim moves into a desolate, ramshackle apartment block, only to find himself set upon by all manner of undesirable neighbours, each with a tale to tell about the would-be novelist who died in the very room he rents. It's more subtle and enigmatic than that thumbnail suggests, although writer/director Yoon knows how to twist the screws when it counts. Strikingly photographed, it's a haunting torture chamber of a movie.Author: TCh
