Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

With a striking performance from Zamachowski as the independent, taciturn village eccentric Jasiek, who befriends an alienated teenage girl from a dysfunctional rich family, this gentle, absurdist social comedy strikes a number of satiric, offbeat and amusing poses illuminating questions of identity. Debut director Jakimowski encourages his cameramen to make winning use of natural light in their portraits of the scuzzy rural landscape, while he himself exercises sufficient control to allow existential intimations of colour to enlighten the droll activities of his finely drawn, if finally enigmatic bunch of misfit characters.
