Cox's Spanish quickie comes on like a snorter's rag revue and resembles the result of roadies bouncing ideas off each other after the gig. With the exception of Richardson, the cast are every bit as tall in the saddle as Arthur Askey in Ramsbottom Rides Again. As a parody of the spaghetti Western, it is as witless and one-note as The Young Ones' A Fistful of Travellers Cheques, and longer, by Christ. Students of end-of-tether desperation will find a sexpot in hot pants shampooing the exhaust pipe of a motorbike, a Spanish fly which settles on various noses, and no shortage of bandidos with Lancashire accents and tartan thermos flasks. The trio of gringos wear Warren Oates grifter suits, and there are many pans around Mexicans laughing. The penultimate line in this yawping indulgence says it all: 'Who's paying for all this?'Author: BC
