Suddenly (2002)
Director: Diego Lerman
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Further proof of the upsurge in Argentina's film fortunes despite the economic upheaval, this lovely little b/w indie gives off intriguing echoes of Stranger than Paradise as it charts the wayward odyssey of an oddball trio (a frumpy, plump, shy shop assistant, and the two somewhat sinister lipstick lesbian punks who pick her up with threats and promises) from Buenos Aires to the abductors' aunt's house down on the coast. Witty, scary, touching and full of unexpected twists, it's deftly performed and packed with beautifully observed detail and nuance. (From a story by César Aira.Author: GA
