A Summer in La Goulette (1996)
Director: Férid Boughédir
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Tunis, 1967: Three teenage girlfriends, neighbours in a cheap apartment building, seem to embody hope for the future: one is Jewish, another Muslim, and the third Catholic. When they make a pact to lose their virginity, however, their fathers' friendship breaks down, as each blames the others for instilling loose morals in the children. Shot in a warm, amber light, this is a modest but quietly affecting re-creation of a moment of optimism in Mid-East relations.Author: TCh
