Julie Harris is Sally Bowles in this version of Christopher Isherwood's '30s Berlin saga (via John Van Druten's stage adaptation), later filmed as the far superior Cabaret. You'd hardly expect an adult drama from the director of Genevieve, and sure enough the end result is sadly bowdlerised and lacking any sense of the divinely decadent. (The movie which inspired the famous critical quip: 'Me no Leica.')Author: TJ
