Illusions (1984)
Director: Julie Dash
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
In which McKee repeats her black-seen-as-a-white role from The Cotton Club, this time as a '40s Hollywood producer's assistant determined to fight the way the movies rewrite history (particularly war propaganda) without reference to blacks. Some nice lines, performances and music, although the narrative could be much tighter, and - as in so many low-budget independents - the quality of the sound recording is abysmal. In general, what tends to be described as 'worthy'.Author: GA
