The Imitation Game (1980)
Director: Richard Eyre
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Ian McEwan's brilliant script, perfectly realised on film by Eyre, was the TV drama of 1980. During WWII, an ATS wireless operator (Walter) casually penetrates, and is eventually destroyed by, the circles of secrecy surrounding the code-breaking operation Ultra. Power, patriarchy, and the moral basis of war are threaded together in a drama concerned with history yet charged with contemporary resonance.Author: JW
