From Time Out Film Guide

The seasons change, and a field of rye hosts three ages of folk making their own delicate romantic rites of passage. In 'The Awn' (originally an award-winning student short), a young friendly couple wander through the fertile field discussing crop circles and wheat that chafes; in 'The Haystack', a young village lad and his three mates find a pregnant girl in their hideout and learn of grown-up love and responsibility; in 'The Path', an ageing new bride and groom meet their first test of faith when their wedding train sticks in the mud en route to their honeymoon destination. Naturalistic, tender and unassuming, it's a pastoral beauty.
