An English market town, 1954. Harold (Graves) takes a room in the Beasley household. All seems dandy, but then Mrs Beasley (Julie Walters - 'Call me Mum') slips into the sheets with him, and won't take no for an answer. The man of the house remains oblivious, but the 13-year-old daughter begins to get ideas of her own, and Harold finds himself in a pickle. Like The Young Poisoner's Handbook, this first feature maliciously satirises the sexual hypocrisy of the time. Walters, needless to add, takes full advantage of the material.Author: TCh
