Iron Eagle (1985)
Director: Sidney J Furie
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A film which captures the misunderstood rationale behind the Reagan administration's foreign policy, and translates it into dramatic form. Doug Masters (Gedrick), high school graduate, is fighting mad: his dad is being held prisoner in an 'Islamic Fundamentalist State'. In a country where negotiation has become an eleven-letter word no one can pronounce, Doug is left with one option; if he's going to save his old man, he's going to have to blast him out. So he and a retired colonel (Gossett) abscond with two US Airforce fighters and splatter the 'little goochies' across the face of the desert. It is regrettable that the highest of production values have been invested in this, the cheapest of stories.Author: SGo
