Reggae (1970)
Director: Horace Ové
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Ové's documentary record of the 1970 Caribbean Music Festival at Wembley is now inevitably dated by somewhat sententious political and social claims. Nevertheless, it remains a fascinating and indispensable key to understanding this originally very derivative form. And latter-day converts, uninterested in anything but the excitement generated by the music itself, will want to catch the movie for individual performances.Author: RM
