Remember Me (2003)
Director: Gabriele Muccino
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
The sour side of the Roman dolce vita is again anatomised in this finely directed account of a bourgeois marriage. Carlo (Bentivoglio), a businessman, meets and falls for beautiful old flame Alessia (Bellucci) after six years. His mid-life ennui deepens as Alessia reminds him of his youthful artistic ambition by attentively listening to passages from his long nurtured novel. Meanwhile Carlo's wife (Morante), their children near-grown, has the temerity to tread the boards once more. It's an almost classically constructed piece, ever conscious of the merry waltz of middle class destiny, whose sympathy for and gentle distance from its characters, not to mention its deceptively light farcical elements, give it a dignity and emotional power.Author: WH
