Report to the Commissioner (1974)
Director: Milton Katselas
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
'It's happened - they've sent us a hippy', Yaphet Kotto cries on sighting his latest recruit, the zombie-like Bo (Moriarty) framed in the precinct doorway. And one's heart goes out to him, for nothing is quite as stodgy (even obnoxious) as a slice of basic Hollywood action that tries to persuade us of its social concern. Cursed with a weighty script by Abby (Judgement at Nuremberg) Mann and Ernest Tidyman based on James Mills' novel, the film makes very heavy weather indeed of its inane tale about a hippy-liberal who joins the (undercover) force. Katselas injects what sentimentality he can into the patently contrived affair.Author: VG
