The Rescuers (1977)
Director: Wolfgang Reitherman, John Lounsbery, Art Stevens
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Two members of the all-mouse Rescue Aid Society go to the help of an orphan girl being held captive by the horribly evil Medusa in her riverboat home at the Devil's Bayou. But the people who really need rescuing are the Disney animators and storymen, who seem uncertain whether to keep up the old studio traditions of cute characters and plush settings, or to branch out into contemporary urban satire. The Rescuers dabbles in both styles, most unsatisfyingly, and the handful of sappy songs don't improve things. There is one lovely character, though - Orville the albatross, who runs an airline service armed with goggles, scarf, and a sardine tin for his passengers to sit in.Author: GB
