Restless Natives (1985)
Director: Michael Hoffman
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Truly dire attempt to reproduce the whimsical charm of Bill Forsyth, in which two Edinburgh teenagers tackle the problem of unemployment by turning to highway robbery, relieving coachloads of tourists of cash and jewellery as they buzz around the Highlands on a moped, disguised in joke-shop masks and armed with toy guns loaded with sneezing powder. Dreadfully unfunny, it soon becomes embarrassing as fantasy takes over, and the pair are lauded as modern-day Rob Roys, legends in their own lifetime. Syrupy, silly, and not a mite objectionable in its closet patriotism.Author: GA
