The Ride (1994)

Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

Mercifully less obscure - and indeed less ambitious - than Sverák's previous Accumulator 1, this is a good-looking road movie in which two friends buy a second-hand car (from a shady dealer, natch), drive out into the country, and give a lift to strange, distracted woman whose presence fuels tensions between the two men. Snappily edited and consummately stylish, it's nevertheless a somewhat hollow, formula affair, interesting more for what it shows of the current mindset of the Czech Republic than for any inherent drama.
