Another dour sub-Kaurismäki comedy-drama from Finland, with the slobby, drunken hero of the title, a none-too-promising would-be film-maker, getting up to his neck in trouble thanks to his professional ambitions and easy-going promiscuity. With its vaguely Chandler-esque voice-over, it's clearly meant to be a noir parody - but mostly it's just tiresome.Author: GA
