Pioneering DJ/impresario Alan Freed (later harassed by payola probes and mythologised by American Hot Wax) chaperones a customarily incongruous bunch of early rockers through this prototype rocksploitation quickie, in which 13-year-old Tuesday Weld (playing 18, and lyrically dubbed by Connie Francis) pines for a strapless dress for the school prom, until perked up by such authentic novelties as Lymon's kitsch classic 'I'm Not a Juvenile Delinquent'.
