The Jang Sun-Woo Variations (2001)
Director: Tony Rayns
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Rayns - long-term TO contributor and an acknowledged expert on Asian cinema - gets to grips with the iconoclastic Jang, interviewed (characteristically?) as he is massaged and relaxes in a bathhouse. The division of the movie into chapters allows for a lucid, informative and often witty look at Jang's preoccupations, film-making style, career, his place in Korean society and his extraordinary haircut. An exemplary introduction to an important and very idiosyncratic film-maker.Author: GA
