Julie Johnson (2001)
Director: Bob Gosse
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A familiar tale of suburban housewife blues. Julie's route out of a dull marriage, however, is novel: she develops simultaneous passions, for theoretical physics and her best friend Claire. Soon Julie is chalking up long equations at college while working on her romantic chemistry at home. There are some sweet, simmering moments between the two women as both Taylor and Love breathe life into an unlikely script. And despite the downbeat ending that sees maths and star formations triumph over lesbian happiness, it's a warm if oddly dated tale of female emancipation won against the odds.Author: FW
