Jungle 2 Jungle (1997)
Director: John Pasquin
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Allen's a top New York commodities trader dragged to the depths of the Amazon to get estranged medic spouse JoBeth Williams' signature on their divorce papers. There's a 13-year-old surprise waiting for him, however: a son (Huntingdon) he never knew about, called Mimi-Siku and raised entirely by the local Indians. Naturally, the filial bonding routine comes as something of a shock, but before long, junior and pet spider wind up back in the US, where jungle-trained blowpipe skills may just come in handy for sorting out dad's financial contretemps with a gang of dodgy Russian mafiosi. Allen is nothing if not personable, and though the material here is awfully predictable, he never makes the mistake of overplaying it into submission. No, that's left to business partner Short, who rolls his eyeballs and wrings his hands as the pair's trading balance turns life threatening. Typically for Disney, the villains aren't made of very stern stuff, nor indeed is fey spear-carrying Mimi-Siku.Author: TJ
