The Adventures of Michael Strogoff (1937)
Director: George Nicholls Jr
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
RKO's cannibalisation of the exteriors from a 1936 German adaptation of Jules Verne's historical romp, directed by Richard Eichberg (Der Kurier des Zaren) and simultaneously filmed in French. Appearing in all three versions, Walbrook is suitably dashing as the envoy galloping across the Steppes to prevent a Tartar uprising, getting blinded (well, not really), falling in love and fighting a duel to the death with the evil Tamiroff. Quite fun, though saddled with silly dialogue of the 'I must get to Omsk' variety.Author: TM
