After the Thin Man (1936)
Director: WS Van Dyke
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Surprisingly successful sequel to the delightful, Dashiell Hammett-based comedy-mystery, The Thin Man, with Powell and Loy as charmingly witty as ever as the bibulous sophisticates Nick and Nora Charles, revelling in sparkling dialogue as they solve a murder. Notionally based on a story by Hammett, the plot is ingenious enough, though the then up-and-coming Stewart now seems uncomfortable cast as the culprit. After this the series grew distinctly thin, though Powell and Loy continued to give good value: Another Thin Man (1939), Shadow of the Thin Man (1941), The Thin Man Goes Home (1944), Song of the Thin Man (1947).Author: TM
