An elephantine, historically inaccurate, stridently patriotic tribute to the handful of Texans who faced assault by 7,000 Mexican baddies. Not helped any by Avalon's vocal efforts, but occasional good patches are probably accountable to uncredited help from John Ford, while second unit director Cliff Lyons certainly contributed the excellent climactic battle (which is a long, long time a-coming).Author: TM
