Ascending Scale (1982)
Director: Shyam Benegal
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
As an agit-prop tract, designed to instruct the Indian peasant sharecropper in legal rights that are still under abuse from landowners despite government legislation, this rings loud and clear. For the Western viewer, running in at 147 minutes, it may seem to thump its tub a little too simplistically, despite stunning cinematography and some fine sequences.Author: TM
