Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

A documentary revealing, among other things, that the American prison is run as an industry along capitalist lines: it has to maintain the same number of inmates in order to function properly. The film centres on the conditions and events that led up to the prisoners' rebellion in Attica State Penitentiary in 1971 which ended with the death of 43 people, some of whom, as this film shows, were actually murdered after the 'restoration of order'. A sobering and trenchant film.
