Austerlitz (1960)
Director: Abel Gance
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Silent-cinema genius he may well have been, but by this time in his career Abel Gance was creatively a shadow of his former self. It was a bold idea of the Salkinds to hire him for this chronicle of Bonaparte's famous victory over the Austro-Prussian army, but the result, for all its lavish scale and roster of stars, is a turgid bore. The original cut ran 166 minutes.Author: TJ
