Kagero-za (1981)
Director: Seijun Suzuki
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
The title translates literally as 'Heat-haze Theatre', which is a fair enough description of these two hours of hallucinatory goings-on, in which four increasingly abstracted men and women wander through a series of riddles about their identities, marital status, motives, and indeed their very existence. Veteran director Suzuki was idolised by Japanese students for his outré gangster movies during the '60s.Author: TR
