Kuroneko (1968)
Director: Kaneto Shindo
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Shindo hit big with a movie called Onibaba, about an elderly woman and her daughter-in-law preying on lost samurai, and so it wasn't surprising that he cobbled together this variation on the earlier film. This time the two women are cat spirits (cue aerial somersaults), and the overall ambience is a great deal artier (cue eccentric 'Scope compositions). Passable as a horror fantasy, but it hasn't an entrail of the gut impact of Onibaba.Author: TR
