Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

A powerful, unshowy account of a single mother who finds that her job no longer puts food on the table for the kids, and ends in court charged with shoplifting. Her case becomes a political cause célèbre for the far right (she considers welfare to be charity), but the film exposes the opportunism of her supporters, and digs out a complex understanding of cause and effect. If it starts in Ken Loach territory, this admirable work ends closer to the world of Abbas Kiarostami.
