From Time Out Film Guide

Impressively shot on digital to make sinister use of the northern moors, and with effective lead performances, this is chiefly engrossing as a rural-menace thriller in the Straw Dogs tradition, just as long as you forget some of its more implausible elements. Colgan and Glenaan are the familiarly contradictory buddies - one childishly irresponsible, the other more mature - whose relationship is sorely tested when one of them accidentally kills someone on a remote farm and the pair are pursued by a posse of countryfolk determined to take the law into their own hands. Beaufoy's script occasionally labours its points about trust and loyalty, but the director keeps things moving quickly enough for the film to survive closer perusal.
