Camden Town, North London: star-crossed lovers, 1990s-style. The marriage of Danny (Henshall) and Hannah (McCormack) fails to survive the reception, shattered by a revelation of prenuptial infidelity. Pub band singer Marey (Burke) lands Danny on the rebound, but soon tires of her role as a comforting 'fat bird' whose own emotional needs are ignored. Rich single mother Sophie (Ehle) is too selfish to let anyone into her life for long, not even womaniser Cameron (Scott), a handsome serial seducer who combs the lonely hearts ads for potential conquests. Most troubled of all is the inept Liam (Hart), whose volatile neediness is at once comical and desperate. Writer/director Kane's deftly understated dialogue suggests rather than insists, and the result is an engaging comic portrait of flesh-and-blood people just getting by, in a world where little is as permanent as the 'Celtic Forever' insignia which a drunken Danny tattoos on to the similarly squiffy Marey's bum.Author: NF
